Smart Drugs II - The Next Generation, ("New Drugs and Nutrients
to Improve Your Memory and Increase your Intelligence.")
by Ward Dean, John Morgenthaler, Steven William Fowkes
The impressive successor to the highly acclaimed Smart Drugs and Nutrients
(reviewed here) is an excellent follow-up to the original book. Full
of new and useful information, it treats the subject perhaps more
thoroughly than the original book and also introduces a number of
new products which weren't covered in the original text. Products
such as L-Deprenyl and Melatonin, both of which are covered in a substantially
more comprehensive way than the products were in the original Smart
Drugs I.
It is written by Ward Dean, M.D. and John Morgenthaler again, with
the addition of Steven Fowkes at the Cognitive Enhancement Research
Institute this time.
The following are among some of the chapter topics in the book:
- Deprenyl and it's numerous uses - anti-aging, sex enhancement and anti-depression, including a chapter called "Better Than Chocolate".
- Melatonin and it's use for Jet Lag, SAD and depression.
- Pregnenolone.
- Ondansetron and Zatosetron.
- A thorough update on Acetyl-L-Carnitine.
- More information on Piracetam uses. Piracetam is the archetypal "Smart Drug" and there has been ongoing research on it which is well documented here.
- There are also tons of personal subjective reports of people's experiences with numerous Smart Drugs.
Included are sections for "beginners", updates on recent FDA nonsense
and product sources.
On the whole, a thoroughly readable and useful book. By
it now! ...But, don't simply take our word for it. Here is what
others have to say:
"...a bible for the smart drug set." Los Angeles
Times Magazine
"...an excellent introduction to the field of
cognition-enhancing compounds... well written and easily understood,
even by people who do not have specific training in medicine." Giacomo
Spignoli, M.D., Ph.D. Pharmacology Research Director L. Manetti-H.
Roberts & Co.
"...a very important book. Very interesting
and well documented... an absolutely essential and important subject."
Timothy Leary, Ph.D.
"...a well-researched and referenced work...invaluable
to people who want to take advantage of available intelligence enhancement
technology now." Durk Pearson and Sandy Shaw, authors of Life Extension:
A Practical Scientific Approach
"...full of accurate, interesting and up-to-date
facts...important work." Terence Mckenna, author of Food of the
Gods and The Invisible Landscape
And our favorite...
"...a dirty little book." Dan Rowland, Compliance
Officer, LA District Office of the FDA
